Conditions were ideal for Halstead and District Motor Cycle Club's first MX meeting of the 2008 season at its Little Loveney Hall course, Wakes Colne, on Sunday.
Spectators enjoyed some fast and furious action in all races.
In round two Eastern Centre MX Chapionships for Experts and Juniors, Aston Bird was very much the star in the Expert class, riding a SMX Racing 450cc Honda, and winning two of his three races.
He started with victory in the first but had to settle for runners-up spot in the second behind Patrick Gilboy. He got back into winning mode to take first place in the third.
Halstead Club riders were involved in top ten finishes in the Expert Championship. Best-placed was Jason Morland riding a Jim Aim KTM 450 machine.
He took third, fourth and sixth places respectively in his three races. Teenager Brad Tomlin did well to finish ninth, sixth and tenth in his three races.
The Junior Championship over two races was dominated by Gavin Crane with two wins. Halstead Club riders were well to the fore in both races.
Junior Thomas was best placed rider in race one. He finished second, with Bradley Howlett fifth and in six and seventh places respectively Mitchell Smith and Luke Lewis.
In the second race Smith was fourth, Howlett fifth, Phil Burton sixth and Thomas ninth.
The Halstead Club will be staging their next meeting on the evening of Wednesday, June 11, when the first of a three-round series will be staged. The event is being sponsored by motor cycle dealer, GH Motorcycles based in Colchester.
