A fine display of boxing put Joe Dutton and the Sudbury Boxing Club firmly back on the map in Colchester last week.
The prestigious Embassy Suite Dinner Show put on by the Castle Boxing Club saw some of the region's top boxers in action and Joe certainly rose to the occasion.
The pre-fight tale-of-the-tape didn't look good for Joe, who was giving away a year in age and a massive 50 bouts experience to England international Marcus Poston.
Knowing the potential of Joe, coaches Richard Groves and John Cullum had no hesitation in accepting the bout, which saw a skilful and determined show of aggression from the Sudbury boxer.
From the first bell, Joe made his opponent look very ordinary in a fight that required Poston to call upon all of his vast experience to stay in contention.
Both boxers scored frequently with many good clean hard blows to the face and head, and at one point it was an untimely intervention from the referee that prevented Joe from finishing the contest early.
After three hard-fought rounds the decision was awarded to Poston, who outpointed Joe with his accurate counter-punching.
Although he did not get the judge's decision on the night, Joe was congratulated for his outstanding performance by all of the Sudbury coaching staff, along with many other highly respected boxing figures who were in attendance and watched the fight.

All concentration is now directed to the Sudbury Boxing Club home show on April 3 at the Great Cornard Sports centre.
It is expected there will be at least six Sudbury boxers on the bill, and the first bout scheduled to start at 8pm.
Tickets are priced at £8 and are available on the door or from the Boxing Club, located behind the King's Head public house in Great Cornard.
