Road works on the Hitcham Hilly course meant the Thursday evening time trial series had to revert to the Acton course for the second week running.
A warm night, with only a slight breeze, resulted in a high turnout and an extremely close contest.

The winner was Simon Wright by the narrowest of margins, one second, from the previous week's winner Adrian Pettit, in a new course record time of 19 minutes 34 seconds.

They were followed home by Sudbury riders Rob Harman and Rob Davies in times of 19:54 and 20:07. The biggest improver was Colin Byford, from Haverhill Wheelers, who improved by 36 seconds.

Brian Mann has been continuing his long-distance Audax riding, with events as far afield as Hailsham, Newbury and Alfreton. To date Brian has completed 2,422 kilometres.

Today's time trial is the Lavenham 10, and all riders who are cycle club members are welcome. If you are not a member of a cycle club you are welcome to join Cycle Club Sudbury. The time trial starts at 7pm and riders need to sign on 30 minutes before.

Former CC Sudbury rider Andrew Elderfield, who now rides for Colchester-based VC Revolution, rode his second Welwyn League event, winning the ten-lap scratch and ten-lap points races.
