Sudbury travelled to Wivenhoe looking for a good performance to see off Jon Kent in his final Two Counties game before his return to South Africa, and duly won by seven wickets.
They started slowly before Billy Moulton-Day clean-bowled two players in four balls, which woke Sudbury up, and Kent picked up his first wicket with a great catch at gulley by Jay Phillips.
Andy Simmons replaced Moulton-Day, and was soon among th
e wickets, bowling De Wet for nine. Kent got his second and Adam Mansfield took a smart catch off the bowling of Simmons to leave the home side struggling on 60-6.
Moulton-Day replaced Kent down the hill and collected a further two wickets, both clean-bowled, and he ended with fine figures of 13-1-41-4.
Simmons collected his third wicket and ended with incredible figures of 12-7-13-3 to continue his fine season. Fittingly Kent took the last wicket for figures of 14.3-2-37-3, with Wivenhoe all out for 107.
Sudbury's run chase started with Peter Siegert out lbw for three, but Phillips was in great form and raced to 27 before a dubious lbw decision.
Kent was in and he and Reece were scoring freely until Reece holed out for 10. Barnett looked classy as he finished the game 15 not out. Kent was unbeaten on 40 to end a fine season for him and give Sudbury 20 points.
