Halstead rewrote the record books on Sunday when they amassed 501 runs for four wickets against ten-man West Bergholt at Star Stile.
Openers Amit Gupta and Justin Rose made hay against the ineffectual bowlers. The first wicket fell in the 28th over for 342 runs in the PDQ League division one match.

By that time Gupta had smashed the bowling to all parts and reached a club reco
rd 245 runs before being caught on the boundary.

Gupta completed his first hundred in 38 balls, with 22 coming off the first over, and his knock included 18 fours and 23 sixes

Rose continued the onslaught despite being overshadowed by Gupta's sparkling knock and hit a fine 152 runs.

The onslaught wasn't over when young Goushi Raviendron came in and hit his maiden 50 for the club, showing great promise.

The total of 501 was a PDQ League division one record.
Poor West Bergholt were demoralised and very soon capitulated in the run chase reaching a lowly 51 all out with Halstead winning by 450 runs.
