Sudbury III 165

Kesgrave 202

Sudbury asked Kesgrave to bat first, and it took 12 overs before the first wicket fell. From then on Sudbury did not take their catches, with six chances going down. This was not Sudbury's best day in the field with some of the ground fielding leaving a lot to be desired.

Apart from a decent innings by skipper Worne, who was dropped on the way to a half-century, it was disappointing to let Kesgrave get a total of 202.

The Sudbury innings got off to the worst possible start with Shropshire run out by his opening partner in the second over without scoring.

Sudbury limped to 48-4 before Powell and 16-year-old Simon Walters managed to get the score into the nineties before Walters went. Scores in the twenties by Ollie Mills and Dave Oakes (not out) managed to get Sudbury in with an outside chance of winning.

But they lost wickets too often to give Oakes a real chance to go for the win.
