TRACEY Reeve won the Sudbury and District League ladies KO, beating defending champion Marje Rose in the final at Edwardstone White Horse.
With six entrants Rose (Edwardstone Wild Horses) beat Vicki Cacchioli (LMWMC) 1,060-970 in the first quarter-final, despite the latter scoring a last ball 200.
Reeve (Edwardstone Wild Horses) saw off the challenge of Pauline Codling (LMWMC) in t
he other quarter-final, Codling who black-pegged halfway through to lose 950-10.
The first semi paired Rose with Alison Perry (Edwardstone White Horse) and she had too much experience, winning through 1,420-510.
The second semi proved to be a close game with Janet Whymark (Edwardstone White Horse) holding her own early on. But when Reeve scored a mid-game 400 it was to prove vital and enabled her to win 1,140-700.
Rose took the first leg of the best-of-three final with a comprehensive 760-220 victory. Reeve hit back in a tight second leg, scoring a last ball 30 to win 840-830.
The deciding leg saw Reeve scoring breaks of 420 and 450 to take a decisive advantage. Rose fought back with a 460 break, but Reeve ran out 1,550-1,050 winner.
Tonight sees the second legs of the Knock-Out Cup where Cornard Five Bells and Edwardstone White Horse are both looking to reverse 5-2 1st leg defeats.
The singles knock-out takes place next week at the Wheatsheaf and Six Bells and players are reminded that play will commence at 8pm due to the number of games to be played.
