THE letter from Mike Andrews of Billericay ("We won't come back to Sudbury", Your Letters, September 23) reiterates everything I have been telling Babergh District Council's car park department for the past four weeks.
There are no parking instructions on entry to the car park at Roys, and one would have to physically look for them to be aware of the restriction. I have submitted photographic evidence to this effect, all to no avail: they claim photographs can be misleading. I find this incredible as I can find no-one who can see a sign on entry to this car park.

I have submitted two appeals. Their response? They can do nothing, it’s entirely up to the legal department. It appears to me they are hiding behind the law. It therefore begs the question, who was responsible for setting up the present set-up?

Was it the car park department, locally elected councillors, or the financial department? Who is now in control?

I have now deposited, under threat of retribution, the sum of £15 to Babergh District Council to satisfy their demand, but have put on record that I intend to seek reimbursement of the funds paid.

Let’s not forget we live in a so-called democracy, whereby politicians and civil servants are answerable only to the people.
