WITH regard to the letter on car parking in Tye Green, Glemsford (Free Press, March 27) – a lack of parking spaces is, in fact, a scourge of this day and age, with many people resorting to covering their gardens with gravel or concrete (a practice I personally loathe).
But it does, I suppose, serve the purpose of getting the car off the road, or I suspect a dual purpose if one is not inclined to be a budding Alan Titchmarsh!

The problem is widespread, although it doesn’t affect me directly as I have no car.

I live on one of the estates in Bury St Edmunds and despite the council ruling that vehicles are not allowed to park on verges or other green areas it is still being done, churning the grass into mud baths.

Remembering Glemsford in the 1940s I can only recall two people owning a motor vehicle – therein is your answer.
