What more could you want than to walk around Sudbury on a sunny Sunday morning.
John Sayers and the crew of Sudbury in Bloom have done a first class job but what a pity others don't do the same.
If anyone wonders what you need to do to put off tourists and their money just take a walk up North Street on a Sunday morning. Yo
u would be greeted by pools of vomit, dog mess, piles of rotting fast foods dropped the night before and grass and weeds growing up shop fronts.
I first walked up at 11am, two dogs and my wife in tow and being disgusted at what I saw, went home for my camera getting back at 12.15.The dog mess and vomit was still there outside shops that were open for trade, I know they did not make the mess, but in days not so long ago, shopkeepers took pride in their shop fronts and would have washed it away, likewise grass and weeds would not have been allowed.
If Sudbury is still looking for a home for the £300,000 from the likes of Tesco how about town centre wardens cracking down on litter louts and dog fouling? I can't remember ever seeing anyone being fined. Maybe someone needs to be made an example of to get the message across that it is not acceptable.
If Babergh can solve the problems of overstaying in the car parks, why not Sudbury with irresponsible dog owners and litter louts.
Shopkeepers will say that it's up to the town council, and maybe it is, but we all have our part to play in keeping Sudbury clean and tidy.
I may add that not all shopkeepers are the same, you only have to walk up North Street to see the ones who care (thank you to them)
