In light of the recent, and sadly fatal accident in Bridge Street, I would like to voice my support for Richard Kemp.
Mr Kemp is right to suggest the installation of a speed camera and a lowering of the limit down from 40 to 30mph. Alpheton is now under a 30mph limit due to similar instances of people having accidents.

I do get tired of complaints about speed limits and speeding cameras. They are there for a good reason, to keep every road user motorist and pedestrian alike, safe. As a learner driver (19 years old) I fully support speed cameras and police enforcement patrols. I have seen many examples of careless driving, and I intend to keep strictly to all speed limits after passing my test. Speed cameras are no problem whatsoever, if you drive safely and keep to the speed limit.
