Salary too high

SO the lady who occupies the top floor of Suffolk County Council's Crystal Palace, in Russell Road, Ipswich, thinks her salary of £218,000 is acceptable and perfectly correct for the job that it involves.
She is, of course, perfectly entitled to her own opinion but I am sorry to have to disappoint her by telling her that hers is a minority opinion.

It was probably a tactical error when in the same week a job was advertised by Suffolk Fire Service.
The job requirement was for a Relief Community Safety Practitioner, at the rate of £6.37 per hour. I am not that good at arithmetic but I think this compares with an hourly rate for the good lady of £114 per hour.

I think I know who I see as more useful and of greater value to the community. While I have no doubt that a community safety practitioner could not do the chief executive's job, I would challenge the chief executive to try to do the community safety practitioner's job – for the same rate of course.

The announcement also fell within that period when budgets for other services and facilities provided or supported by the county council were being announced for the coming 12 months.
How many were slashed – some to zero?

I am aware of at least one essential voluntary service provider who would be able to operate for well over 15 years if they had an award of £220K.
