Published Date: 02 October 2008
I have never written to a newspaper before in praise of anyone. Therefore, this is a rare letter, indeed.
Recently we lost two of our precious dogs to inevitable old age and the accompanying illnesses which were simply incurable.

This, of course, is the downside of having much loved pets (death and taxes – no escape).

The shining light that made ou
r losses bearable and helped us in ways I cannot put into words, came in the human form of Mr Simon Culmstock at Swayne & Partners Veterinary Practice in Long Melford.

Simon is, without a doubt, the most competent, skilful, caring and compassionate vet we have ever known (and we have known quite a few, having had our dogs for over 14 years and living during that time in three different countries).

We really cannot praise him enough for everything he did for them. The operations he carried out were truly amazing and always successful.

The most wonderful thing about Simon is that it’s blindingly obvious why he chose to be a vet – not for the monetary gain but because he loves animals so much.

We are extremely lucky to have a vet with his level of expertise and genuine concern practising in our village.

Well done, Simon, you are (as Tina Turner would say) ‘Simply The Best’.
