ALTHOUGH it would appear that we have lost the battle to get People's Park registered as a town or village green, the war is not over yet.
Planning permission will have to be sought if houses are to be built on the site. This would affect the environmental and recreational status of our town, thus giving another opportunity for the people of Sudbury to raise their objections to such a project.

On behalf of the People’s Park Preservation Association, may I thank all those who so generously supported our campaign financially, and those who signed the petition, which produced in excess of 1,000 signatures, helping to prove that we had the backing of the people of Sudbury in our endeavours.

Special thanks go to the 17 people who gave evidence at the inquiry, also to Bates, Wells and Braithwaite for their legal support.

All is not lost. Remember Robert the Bruce and how he derived hope and patience from watching a spider perseveringly weaving its web.
