I write to sing the praises of our doctors and nurses at West Suffolk hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
Over the past four years or so, I have been unlucky enough to have been through two bouts of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and would like it to be known that the treatment I received at this hospital was fantastic. It could not have been better on a private
ward.
Doctors and nurses on Macmillan ward and in the Macmillan day unit and the whole haematological team, showed skill, dedication and compassion throughout their duties.
Whilst I appreciate that some folk have undoubtedly experienced poor hospital care, I would like to highlight what I experienced at the other end of the scale.
All too often, one reads in the press of bad NHS experiences and I thought it would be nice and fair, to balance the stories a bit with my positive experiences.
I would also like to point out that the Macmillan cancer information and support service, based in the day unit at the hospital, also provides a first-rate service, supplementing what the medical staff do by helping cancer sufferers and loved ones with financial and emotional support and advice.
Let's hear it for all these Macmillan staff who do such a wonderful job and without whom I would not be here now writing this letter. Thank you to all of you people.
