In response to Mr Underwood (Letters, July 10), regarding parking outside his house.
I have lived in my house in the town centre for 11 years. There are 13 houses where I live, and parking in the road for five cars.

When I inquired a few years ago about parking permits, I was told that no-one had a right to park outside their house, and if I was worried about getting a ticket for overstaying the three hours on North Street car park, I could always use the long-stay by the Kingfisher ... very helpful!

We now have the “mystery” machines in North Street car park. No doubt we are about to be charged to park. What then for the residents, paying to park because we can’t get outside our own home?

Parking permits: a luxury we are still waiting for.

Editor’s note: Babergh Council have said tickets will be issued only to show the length of time parked and will be free.
