A LOT of people know market trader Darren Cox and as nice a bloke as he is, he must have had a brainstorm to come up with such an idea as fixing rising bollards to stop cars on market days from parking (Free Press, April 24).
By doing this he will be asking for trading suicide for him and the other traders and shops on Market Hill. If this comes about then I for one, as a disabled person, having used the market regularly over the past 30 years will have to shop at a supermarket outside town.

A large amount of his and others’ trade comes from those who park there.

Darren has a stall only once a week for a few hours, so surely he can put up with customers parking.

A similar idea was tried about two years ago to alter the market and car parking but there was such a public objection that the idea was dropped and thankfully, things went back to how they were.

I do hope the council will not adopt the idea or otherwise there is going to be a public riot!
