We note your coverage in last week’s edition of the concerns raised at the annual Long Melford parish meeting concerning Babergh District Council’s handling of the David Wilson Homes proposal in the centre of Long Melford.

Our group was allowed to give evidence and question other witnesses at the public inquiry held in February 2014 which considered the developer’s appeal against Babergh’s decision to refuse planning permission for 51 homes.

As we are still awaiting the decision of the inspector on this appeal, we would like to take this opportunity to emphasise that we are very much in favour of re-development of the old Fleetwood Caravans site.

We are in favour of affordable housing on the site, especially if it is allocated to local people.

If David Wilson Homes loses the appeal, we shall not hesitate to join hands with all local residents and our parish council in putting forward to Babergh District Council our suggestions for the redevelopment of this site.
