Thanks for raising my spirits

I WOULD like to thank all those parents, pupils, staff and friends who came to the lovely barbecue evening that was organised for me on Friday, July 13, at the Black Lion Pub in Glemsford.

Although this whole episode has been very upsetting, my spirits have been raised by the letters, cards and phone calls that I have received on a regular basis from my many friends.

My resignation and retirement was not as I had intended it to be, so I was very grateful that three members of my staff were going to give me the opportunity of saying my goodbyes.

I would like to send them a huge thank you, so Debbie, Cilla and Jayne you are the best.

Also a huge thank you to the owners of the Black Lion, Steve and Sarah Metson, who arranged the barbecue and bouncy castle.

A big thank you to Tom, Billy and Tom’s son who entertained us with singing during the evening, as well as all those who came along. As there were over 150 people I cannot name them all.

The evening gave me the opportunity to celebrate my 39 years in education but more importantly the 17 happy years I spent in Glemsford.

I have assured all those present that I will not be a stranger and look forward to meeting you all in the future.
