Further to your article regarding the Sudbury household waste and recycling centre in Sandy Lane (Calls for bigger recycling site, March 21), the Sandy Lane & Area Action Group formed a year ago has had regular meetings with Lisa Chambers, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for environment and property management, together with Sudbury councillor John Sayers and representatives from the Highways department, and those with the day-to-day management responsibility for the household waste site.
It has been acknowledged by all concerned that this facility is not suitably sited in a residential area, and in a country lane totally unsuited to the level of ordinary traffic and heavy goods vehicles that use it on a daily basis.
Added to this is the inconvenience caused to the residents of Sudbury who sometimes have to queue for unacceptable periods of time to access the waste site.
Improvements are being made to improve the traffic flow through the site but it is still far from ideal.
While as an action group we focus on our own concerns, through your newspaper others might like to express their views?
