On behalf of The Royal British Legion, may I thank Adrian Osborne, the mayor of Sudbury, and Sudbury Town Council for hosting the Poppy Appeal launch and allowing the Royal British Legion the use of the town hall.

I would also like to thank Great Cornard Parish Council for its hospitality after the parade and service in St Andrew’s Church.

Thanks too to the Rev Chris Ramsey and the Rev Gregory Webb for organising the two church services.

This year’s appeal total to date is £30,540. Our thanks go to you, the public, for such generous donations, support and to all the people who gave their time to help with the collections.

I would also thank everyone who accepted static appeal boxes – these have been very generous in most cases.

Thanks also to Roy’s, Waitrose, Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Tesco for allowing us on their premises, and to Hunnaball funeral directors and the East of England Co-op funeral services for their support and wonderful window displays.

Finally, special thanks must go to everyone who took part in the parades on Remembrance Sunday – it was wonderful to see so many young people giving up their weekend to join us.
