WE have all heard the old teaser “Where do the flies go in wintertime?”.
But a new one now is: “Where do the birds nest in Sudbury in spring/summertime?”
Every year now we hear of hedges being cut still in bird nesting time but we are assured that the contractors would have thoroughly searched to ensure no nesting birds were there.
Are we to assume then that there are no bird nests in Sudbury, as we never hear of a hedge cutting project abandoned because a nest has been found.
Does Babergh District Council send out advance warning to birds: “Contractors coming,” so that birds can up sticks (no pun intended) to pastures new? Or is this just a flight of fancy!
