In reference to last week’s story on the plans for a new village hall in Monks Eleigh, I would like to clarify that the views expressed in the article were my own personal opinions and not that of the youth club committee.

The committee fully supports the plan to provide a new hall on Monks Eleigh recreational ground.

It trusts the opinions of the majority, including the highways authority, when it states that access to the site will be safe for all users.

The fate of the existing village hall – the home of the youth club since its foundation – is an ongoing concern for committee members.

The youth club makes regular use of the playing fields, especially since the provision of multi-use games area.

The youth club needs to be close to the playing field and its facilities. The majority of the committee feels that the recreational ground is the best site for a new hall.

By ensuring that a new hall is built on land owned wholly by the village, the future of the youth club will be secure.
