As myself and my wife are regular readers of the Free Press and enjoy the looking back section and pictures from the good old 1960s, we would like to comment, as others have done, about the state of the paths around the town centre.
The many uneven slabs and trip hazards could be fatal to older men and women.
I hope our councillors who hold the purse strings and are having to be seen to show value for money will read on.
Having just taken a look at the Borehamgate precinct, I can remember what it was like before.
What a brilliant job – and one carried out by a local contractor. I am sure the supervisors from this firm will agree that if the paths around the town are just left unattended from repair, they will become a large major repair scheme.
Why not repair them now and avoid this costly work with some minor maintenance, saving money for us all in the long run.
Employ local companies and support those who really care about the finished product.
Just remember, it could be your mum or dad who falls over these poor slabbed areas ending up in hospital with injuries.
