Show a bit of pride in town

We can’t all decide on local planning issues (though we do get the chance to air our views, when asked) but the ordinary citizen is not powerless.

Location was questionable

I recently visited the Kingfisher Leisure Centre to find our district council undertaking a four-hour consultation exercise in connection with the new local plan document.

An obscene waste of money

Why is it that Sue Brotherwood can, maybe quite rightly, be dismissed from her role for mishandling public funds, even though we are led to believe that the public purse was none the worse, yet certain councillors can get away with an obscene waste of public money in giving the go-ahead for a useless £90,000 lump of concrete in King Street. Smacks of a serious case of gross double standards in my opinion.

Views were utter nonsense

Further to Simon Ambrose’s letter, I write on behalf of Long Melford Open Spaces (LMOS) which is the volunteer body charged with the care and maintenance of the Railway Walk (not the Valley Walk, as he says) and Melford Country Park (no longer Rodbridge Picnic Site, as he calls it).

Further to Simon Ambrose’s scathing letter in last week’s Free Press criticising improvements carried out at Melford Country Park, I would like to respond.
