FRIENDS Madalene Howard and Natalie Betts wheely wanted to help raise money for an animal charity – so they decided to get on their bikes and do a sponsored ride.

The girls, who are in Year 2 at Boxford Primary School, completed a four-mile route along the Valley Walk on Friday in aid of the World Wildlife Fund.

Madalene, seven, is from is Canhams Road, Great Cornard, and Natalie, six, is from Bures Road, Assington.

Mother Catherine Howard said: “After a busy week at school, they cycled along the old railway line in Sudbury with their siblings Oskar, who is four, and Eliza, who is nine.

“The ride was particularly tough due to lots of muddy puddles but the weather stayed dry and the girls finished in about an hour-and-a-half.”

The schoolgirls raised £112.
