Young performers took to the stage in front of thousands of people at London’s O2 arena last weekend, with four youngsters from Sudbury being singled out.
The Sudbury branch of Theatretrain, a performing arts group which meets at The Curve arts centre at Ormiston Sudbury Academy, was one of 90 groups from all over the country to take part in a concert celebrating Theatretrain’s 20th birthday.
Ollie Cotton, 11, Annabel Waghorn, 15, Jess King, 12, and Alanah Reeve, seven, were chosen for solo roles.
Charlotte Cotton, from Theatretrain, said: “Each centre put forward candidates for the various singing and speaking parts throughout the show which featured more than 3,500 students.
“Sudbury got four of these solo parts from all those centres. It is an amazing testament to the quality of the teaching and the great auditions by the children.
“It was a stunning show with singing and dancing throughout.”
Theatretrain youngsters were featured in a video for the opening of Sainsbury’s in Sudbury in November when they were asked by a production company to make a video to promote the supermarket.
Theatretrain restarts at The Curve on September 7 from 2pm to 5pm.
