A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after crashing into a lamp post in Great Cornard.

Firefighters from Sudbury and Long Melford were called to Shawlands Avenue at 10.30pm on Tuesday after a black Fiat Punto stuck a street light.

The collision left the woman driver trapped and crews had to use cutting equipment to remove the car’s roof and free her.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said the woman had suffered minor head injures and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
