A Bildeston nature reserve has been granted £7,090 to fund a study of wildlife in the area.

Bildeston Kings Pightle nature reserve has secured the grant from Biffa Award, a multi-million pound fund that helps communities by awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK as part of the Landfill Communities Fund.

Also supported by Bildeston Parish Council, the project will see the provision of a bird hide and field study area to encourage community recreation, education and increased wildlife monitoring.

Robin Taylor, treasurer of the nature reserve, said: “Our field study area will allow families and school parties to sit for a while and enjoy views over the river and wetlands.

“It’s a great and fitting conclusion to the nature reserve project that was started several years ago by the late John Artiss.”
