CHURCH fundraisers are organising a wedding fair with the emphasis on smaller, local businesses.
The Friends of St Andrew’s Church in Great Cornard are setting up the fair in St Peter’s in Sudbury on September 24.
It will feature cakes, dresses, flowers, photographers and more, as well as a selection of live and recorded music popular at weddings.
The Rev Chris Ramsey, vicar of St Andrew’s, said: “St Peter’s is a wonderful venue for a wedding fair and it is great to offer the opportunity for prospective couples to see first-hand the services which local businesses can provide, while promoting marriage in general.
“Of course, many people choose not to marry in churches, however, we hope to show that the church is passionate about marriage and about helping couples have the best possible start to married life.”
Fair organiser Michelle Richardson said the spaces are fully booked up.
“Wedding fairs are very popular but can also be dominated by well-known and well-established exhibitors.
“We have tried to encourage smaller, local businesses to have a go at exhibiting and for many it will be their first.”
The wedding fair runs from 10am to 3pm and admission is £1.
All funds raised through admissions will go to the Friends of St Andrew’s.
