TEDDY bears and their owners dodged the raindrops and made the most of very intermittent bank holiday bright spots to enjoy Stour River boat rides.

Around 100 people visited the River Stour Trust in Quay Lane in Sudbury on Monday for a teddy bear’s picnic in The Granary tea room and a boat trip.

Trust member Catherine Burrows said: “Numbers were definitely down on previous years – I think people are more reluctant to come out when it is miserable.

“We still saw a range of teddy bears and it was good to see those people who made it down.”

The day raised £400, which will go towards the restoration and conservation work of the River Stour Navigation.
