GLEMSFORD youngsters can look forward to Thursday nights after funding was secured for a youth club.
Weekly sessions are due to start after Easter at the village hall following a grant of £3,748 from the South Suffolk Community Development Fund.
The club for 12 to 18 year olds will be run by Sudbury’s Eden’s Project, in conjunction with Young Suffolk, churches and the parish council, which also gave a £1,000 grant and free use of the hall and equipment.
Stuart Ayling, Eden’s Project manager, said: “There’s a perception that there is an anti-social behaviour problem in certain areas of the village in the evenings.
“The village hall has become a place where people congregate, so it is natural to open the doors for them.”
Mr Ayling hopes volunteers and community groups will eventually take over.
Parish councillor Anne Mallalieu said: “We’re delighted that Eden’s will be running the club.”
