STUDENTS in Hadleigh made a song and dance about going to school this week.

That is because around 50 teenagers from Hadleigh High School have been busy performing the Queen-inspired hit musical We Will Rock You.

On Monday, those involved in the production took to the stage for a dress rehearsal in front of an audience of watching Year 6 pupils from nearby primary schools, before entertaining parents and families on Tuesday evening and last night.

English teacher James Day, who along with drama teacher Jane Reader helped organise the show, said: “We put on a production every year and it was a group decision between students and teachers to do We Will Rock You.

“The students really benefit as they get to work with people they do not usually interact with and they can show off talents that might not normally be seen in the classroom.”

Songs performed in the musical, which has appeared in the West End, included A Kind of Magic and Radio Ga Ga.

Mr Day added: “The students have really developed and grown in confidence as we have gone along and they have all done a very good job.”

The school’s last performance of the show will take place tonight.
