MOTORISTS faced a two-hour delay during the Tuesday morning rush-hour after three cars were involved in an accident on the A134 in Further Street, near Assington.

A 36-year-old man, driving a blue Peugeot, was taken to Colchester Hospital with head injuries which were described as not life-threatening.

A 27-year-old woman, driving a blue Mondeo, was described as “suffering lesser injuries”.

Fire engines from Sudbury and Hadleigh were sent to the scene after reports that a person was trapped in a car in a ditch.

Suffolk police confirmed that an air ambulance was also sent to the scene and landed in a nearby field.

The crash happened just after 8am, and the road was cleared and re-opened shortly after 10am.
