Three men have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglaries following a ram raid at a post office in Glemsford.

Alan Loveridge, 47, of Moorsfield, Great Cornard, Michael Smith, 29, of Mill Lane, Ellingham, and Steven Allum, 27, of Henry Street in Debenham were all arrested on Thursday.

The men were interviewed by detectives in connection with the break in at Broadway Stores in Fair Green last Sunday morning, and a number of other burglaries which have taken place across the county.

The trio were charged on Saturday, before appearing at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court where they were remanded in custody, and will attend Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday.

The ram raid at Broadway Stores took place at 4.30am and saw a cash machine dragged from the shop, using a piece of rope and a stolen Toyota Hilux. Despite damaging the shop, the raiders failed to escape with any cash.
