A landowner in Sudbury is asking for action by authorities after travellers moved onto land in Claremont Avenue.

Jane May, from Newmans Green, Sudbury, who owns the nearby St Bartholomew’s Priory site said Suffolk County Council had been made aware of the situation but added they were trying to work out who the landowner was.

“The residents are up in arms,” she said. “It’s not the first time.”

She said she had previously had a meeting with police about the area concerning the ancient St Bartholomew’s Priory monument, adding she had been assured action would be taken if travellers did return.

A police spokeswoman said they were currently unaware of the site.
