Towns’ car parks retain safety status

Car parks in Sudbury and Hadleigh have received awards for maintaining safety standards.

Five Babergh District Council-run car parks in Sudbury – Girling Street, Mill Lane, Station Road, Stour Street and The Station – and four in Hadleigh – High Street, Magdalen Road, Maiden Way and Stonehouse Road – have been given Park Mark status as part of the national Safer Parking Scheme.

The awards follow an inspection by police and assessment of the car parks’ management, including crime figures.

Daniel Whymark, from the district council, said the awards demonstrated a commitment to maintaining safe and clean car parks.
