Nestlé Purina Petcare has applied for planning permission to build exhaust stacks to stop smells from the factory.
The company, in Windham Road, says new roof-level “pods” will contain an “odour abatement plant” to process exhaust air, prior to being vented. The changes are needed because of health and safety regulations.
It is also seeking permission from Babergh District Council to replace the production warehouse roof which it says is no longer serviceable and prone to vermin infestation, a significant hygiene issue it says it “wishes to eradicate”.
The company hopes to start work in May.
