AN innovative council meeting designed to attract greater interest from residents has been hailed a success.
Sudbury Town Council adopted a fresh approach to its annual public meeting on Thursday by showcasing services it provides in the town and organisations it works alongside.
The new set-up allowed those who attended to have informal discussions with various groups, including the town’s community wardens, police and councillors, before the usual question and answer session.
Sue Brotherwood, town council clerk, said more than 70 residents had dropped into the event.
“We wanted to do something that would attract more people and I think it worked,” she said.
Town councillor Jan Osborne said she felt the event was the shape of things to come.
“I thought the meeting went very well and this is certainly an approach we will take forward to next year’s meeting,” she said.
