The second and last phase of the Halstead River Walk was officially opened on Saturday with a big turnout.

Halstead mayor David Hume, together with his colleagues from district and town councils, as well as representatives from Halstead in Bloom, joined members of the public and their pets for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The £94,000 river walk along the River Colne now stretches a further 960 metres from Chaffinch Way to the Parsonage Street allotments.

Trevor Sheldrake, from Halstead Heart and Sole Walks, said: “This is a great plus for the town and money well spent.”
