A COMMUNITY event aimed at enticing people to join clubs and societies attracted thousands of visitors at the weekend.
The third Sudbury On Show, a biennial event set up to raise the profile of the town’s voluntary groups, took place at the town hall and St Peter’s on Market Hill on Saturday.
Originally organised by Lord Phillips of Sudbury, and now run by the town council, the event featured more than 100 community groups, clubs and organisations all showcasing what they have to offer.
Sue Brotherwood, town clerk, said the event, boosted by the warm weather, saw around 3,000 people attend.
“It was really marvellous,” she said.
“The weather was on our side and we had a splendid day.
“There were lots of people networking, finding out information and joining various clubs and societies.
“There was a great community spirit and thousands of people came in the right mood to get involved.”
Exhibitors included social, sporting and leisure groups like AFC Sudbury, the Choral Society and the Scouts.
