A 19-year-old from Newton has won a university scholarship to pursue her dream job as a primary school teacher.

Tina-Jade Balaam qualified for the £1,000 first year scholarship after achieving a triple distinction in a BTEC extended diploma in childcare, learning and development.

The former West Suffolk College student has just begun her undergraduate degree at the University of Worcester.

She is already looking forward to the future and the pursuit of her dream career as a primary school teacher.

“I chose the University of Worcester because it has the best course suited for my career aspirations,” said Tina.

“It’s a nice university and Worcester is a beautiful city.”
