IT WAS perfect weather for a summer fete on Sunday, and scores of supporters of Sesaw – the Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Rescue group – descended on its Leavenheath base for the outdoor event.

The summer fair, including a dog show, raised a total of £3,550, including a single donation of £750 from Barclays Bank in Sudbury, and organisers said the summer sunshine helped to bring out the crowds.

Organiser, Patricia Ferdinando, said: “The afternoon was a great success, thanks to all the wonderful, hard-working Sesaw volunteers and most of all to the public for attending and giving their continuing support.

“Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of side shows, stalls, refreshments and a fun dog show. There were in excess of 100 entries for the dog show.”

She said an “excellent display” was put on by the dog group Ace Agility, with retired Hadleigh vet Mike Newman kindly agreeing to judge the classes at the Stoke Road event.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Elmsett Fellowship Brass Band, and many businesses in the area generously donated goods for the stalls.
