Members of the Sudbury Ephemera Archive have been presented with an award for their re-enactment of the suffragette marches of the late 19th and early 20th century.

In a presentation ceremony at Sudbury Town Hall, deputy mayor Jack Owen handed the ladies their trophy – last awarded in 1988 – for their part in the Sudbury Carnival in August.

“It was fantastic to win the award at the first carnival for many years,” said Anne Grimshaw, who suggested the idea of suffragettes. “The ladies put in a huge amount of effort to look authentic and it paid off.”
