A Sudbury businessman has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign to raise £100,000 for his online recruitment software.

Brett MacDonald, who has worked as an independent recruitment consultant for 15 years, has devised a HR recruitment tool called Talent Ninja.

He says HR technology is a big growth market as employers look for the most cost-effective ways to search for employees.

He has teamed up with two other experts in the field and launched the software last year. It has already been used by 1,200 companies attracting more than 5,000 candidate applications.

Mr MacDonald, 35, said crowdfunding offers anyone the chance to invest in a growing market for as little as £10 – in return for equity. He says UK tax payers can get 50 per cent tax relief on their investment under the government’s Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme.

He said: “For a company to find the right person, they now need to be present in all the places that talent might be looking, which could be locally or anywhere in the world. Talent Ninja allows employers to have access to a huge range of advertising platforms, without the headache of having to pick and choose which ones they want to use.”
