Sudbury Talbot Rotary Club has disbanded after 16 years of fundraising and service within the local community. Having now closed the books, the club has announced it raised £132,760 for many groups, charities and victims of disasters locally and internationally.
Former president Laraine Green said: “The club would like to express a very big thank you to you, our local community, who have supported our efforts over the years and shown such generosity. Without the help, support and generosity of our local communities organisations like Rotary could not continue to function and provide much needed help wherever it is identified. Rotary is also very proud that it is able to pass on 100 per cent of the donations it receives to the good causes it supports.”
On the decision to disband the club, she added: “The club was suffering from the same problems shared by many such organisations - an ageing membership, illness, lack of time to take on offices and difficulty in recruiting younger members.”
The Rotary Club of Sudbury will continue.
