BELTING IT OUT: Sudbury Rock Choir joined groups from across the area to perform in Long Melford on Monday.

Long Melford’s Holy Trinity Church was filled with the sound of more than 75 voices on Monday during a performance by Rock Choir groups from across the region.

Singers from groups including Sudbury Rock Choir descended on the church as part of the Sudbury Gainsborough Group WI’s Christmas carol event.

Between the six carols and readings, the group sang tracks including Something Inside So Strong by Labi Siffre, O Happy Day by Edwin Hawkins and a Christmas Medley arranged by the choir.

Peter Routley, a Rock Choir member, said: “The performance was really enjoyed by the congregation, who filled the church and showed their appreciation with rapturous applause after each number.”

Sudbury’s Rock Choir group meets on Mondays between 8pm at The Curve Art Centre at Ormiston Sudbury Academy and on Wednesdays at 10.30am at The Quay Theatre.

The group is aimed at people who enjoy singing pop, rock or gospel music and requires no audition to join.

The Curve centre also hosts a range of evening classes, open to the public, including Zumba, Stagecoach, chi kung, salsa, jazzercise, Tensho Dojo, Theatretrain and High Definition Dance tuition.
