THE official opening of the new Little Kingfishers soft play area, next door to the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, in Station Road, Sudbury, takes place next Saturday, March 24.
It is being opened by Charlie Newman, the six-year-old winner of a competition to name the new centre’s mascot, a human-size blue and orange kingfisher. Charlie, who lives in Sudbury and attends Woodhall Primary School, won with the name Scoop.
Sudbury shoppers will get the chance to join the opening as centre staff are giving away invitations in the town centre this Saturday.
The £600,000 soft play area opened for business in February after a seven-month building programme. It received a £100,000 Section 106 grant from Babergh District Council, money given to offset previous developments in the town including extensions to Tesco’s in Springlands Way.
