SUDBURY will be featured on television tonight in a BBC 2 series about trains, presented by former cabinet minister Michael Portillo.
Episode three of the documentary series, called Great British Railway Journeys, is to be broadcast on the channel at 6.30pm and was filmed in Sudbury last summer.
In the series, the former Tory politician, broadcaster and journalist takes to the tracks with a copy of George Bradshaw’s Victorian Railway Guidebook.
He travels the length and breadth of the country to see how the railways changed Britain, and what of Bradshaw’s Britain remains.
Following the route of the Great Eastern Line, Michael starts out in Sudbury and travels to Southend to ride one of the world’s first electric railways.
