STORY books came to life for children at Sudbury Library as a growling, grumpy grizzly bear appeared before their eyes.

But parents had no need to fear for the safety of youngsters attending the library’s Sunday Kids Club – the bear was simply the creation of illustrator Cee Biscoe, who visited at the weekend.

Mrs Biscoe, who was behind the drawings in popular books Gruff the Grump and Too Hot to Handle, wowed children with a selection of sketches and also provided tips on how they could improve their own drawings.

“Cee was brilliant with the children,” said Sunday officer Rachel Mason.

“She brought in some of her illustrations and read a few of her books, which was very well received.

“She also did some crafty bits with the children and there was a great reaction when she drew the bear from the book.

“You could see their eyes widening in amazement.”
